Fire wardens from southern Indiana gathered at Jackson County state forest for a fire school as dry leaves raise alerts. Superintendent T K Rosenbarger cited a current hazard rating of 10, down from 14 on Wednesday, with green vegetation and low wind helping containment. $1,000 Awarded In Mishap Suit
William Robert Peterson awarded $1,000 and costs in a friendly damage suit against Walter Robertson and William George. The case stems from a December 30 collision on State Road 50 near Brownstown that killed Peterson’s six year old son Don and injured Mrs. Peterson. Evidence indicated the truck partly blocked the highway and had no lights. The dispute arose after the truck stalled and Peterson could not avoid the crash.
