Ball Guilty Of Second Degree Murder In Three Slayings

An Indianapolis man, Mikeo Steven Ball, 25, is found guilty by a Jefferson Circuit Court jury of three counts of second degree murder for the Dec 28 1975 shotgun slayings of Ricky Burke Steve Nichter and Eugene Lillico in a snow covered field near Indianapolis. The jury recommended life terms on each count. Ball testified insanity. sentencing pending after a pre sentence investigation. The victims included former Seymour residents Burke and Nichter.

Fee Board Respond To Tax Legislation

Jackson County Assessor Garrett Fee acting president of the Governor's Advisory Council to the State Board of Tax Commissioners called a meeting to discuss the proposed tax measures. Fireworks planned for V J Day parade spectacle

The VFW post 1925 reports fireworks will again be part of the V J Day Parade on Sunday August 14. Miss Michelle Unrue has joined the Seymour Public Library as reference and circulation librarian. She holds a master’s in library science from Indiana University and previously worked at Monroe County Library and Jennings County Library.

Brownstown Central Middle School principal Donal R. Neal announced honor rolls for the second semester and final six weeks grading periods. Thirteen students earned high honor and 135 made the regular list for the semester while eleven attained high honor and 123 made the regular list for the final six weeks.

Reynolds Pleads Guilty to Armed Robbery in Jackson Co

James D. Reynolds, 22, of Medora, pled guilty to a felony armed robbery charge. Under a plea agreement he received a 10 year sentence at the Indiana Department of Corrections. Prosecutor Jeffrey A. Nierman announced the plea before Judge Robert R. Brown.

Fifty-Six Enroll At Immanuel

Fifty-six children registered at the pre-school enrollment and health clinic at Immanuel Lutheran School. The event ran 9 am to noon and 1 pm to 3:30 pm to aid first grade entrants next September. Principal Robert M. Demske cited enrollment being identical to last year with a projected eight to ten more overall. Public health nurse Miss Willma Rose Smith supervised the clinic with volunteers, checking teeth vision weight and other areas to support attendance and progress.

Sessions Begin Monday Theatre Workshop Set

The Jackson County Community Theatre sponsors a four week summer theatre workshop starting Monday. Open to county residents with schedules for adults students and kids, it offers acting directing technical work set building costumes and makeup led by Gary Croddy.
