Davis Death Ruled Traffic Fatality Near Maumee
Eldon G. Davis aged 69 died in a tractor accident on a county road near Maumee. Jackson County coroner Keith Burkholder ruled the death a traffic fatality raising the county toll to five this year. Dennis Arthur 16 remained hospitalized with head injuries. Deputy sheriff Joseph Gray investigates and notes the tractor overturned down a steep embankment.

George Crowe Memorial Canoe Race Huge Success
The first annual George Crowe Memorial Canoe Race on the White River drew over 75 spectators and 16 teams. Winners in Class A were Mrs. James Olmstead and Fred Trimpe of Seymour R2 with 2 hours 21 minutes. Class B winners were Jack Dunn and Marshall Burbrick after a foul was lodged against rivals Henry and Copeland.
