Uniontown crash leaves one dead four hurt
An 86 year old New Albany woman, Mary E Brautigam, died from injuries after a two car collision near Uniontown during a heavy rain. Four others were injured including Richard and Kley Cleveland and two Brautigam daughters, with both vehicles sustaining major damage. Traffic was heavy as Memorial Day weekend ended and police reported slick roads from rain.

Seymour Woman Escapes in Crash
Ruth V. Tungeitt, 29, escaped with minor facial injuries and her seven month old son Lloyd Jr. was unhurt when a Greyhound bus collided with an automobile on Madison Avenue Indianapolis Saturday afternoon. Two people were killed and 19 injured. Wayne Rollings, bus driver, swerved to avoid the crash and aided injured passengers. The accident occurred as James J. Peavier drove at high speed, and witnesses said the car was traveling around 60 mph.

Funeral services were held in Owen township for Jefferson Wineinger 60 a resident of Jackson county pastor Rev Kenneth P Angle of First Evangelical United Warren Church presiding. Burial followed at Mt Zion Cemetery. Born November 8 1886 in Rin City Iowa he moved to Clearspring area and graduated from Clearing High School in 1905 later becoming a sign painter in Kokomo. He was survived by three brothers and two sisters with a twin brother among the deceased’s siblings.

Bedford Woman Dies After Operation At Home
Mrs. Eunice Lutes Darlage 34 of Bedford died Saturday night at 501 A street Bedford after an ill health since May following a February operation. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday from the home then at Riverview Cemetery. She was born September 26 1912 in Seymour daughter of David and Janie Lutes and married Virgil Darlage September 6 1930 in Van Wert. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Bedford. Survived by husband father two brothers and three sisters.

Two Charged Here In Excise Raids
Two men were arrested in Seymour after state excise police raids. Arthur B. Morris pleaded guilty to selling alcohol without a license and paid 28.75 in fines. Herbie Bacret pleaded not guilty to two charges and was released on 500 bond for a June 4 trial in Justice Burrells court.

Firemen Rescue Cat From Tall Tree in City Suburb

Powers Recaptured after Escape from Los Angeles Farm
Arthur Eugene Powers was arrested in Seymour by Sgt. Pat Loran to be returned to the Los Angeles honor farm from which he had escaped weeks ago. Officers Owens and Baldwin recognized him on East Second Street and he was held in Jackson County Jail until Los Angeles officers arrived. Powers was one of three inmates suspected in a county jail break attempt on May 25.
