The sixty first annual commencement at Shields High School filled the auditorium as 100 seniors received diplomas. Honored speaker Fred G Bale former juvenile court judge delivered The Greatest Line of National Defense. Paul Preuss led the procession with Bertha Holland as officers.

National School Executives Pick Atlantic City for 1935 Convention
Norman J. Lasher announces that the fifty sixth annual convention of the national organization of school executives will meet in Atlantic City February 23 to 28 1935. Atlantic City won after consideration of midwestern and eastern cities including St Louis Chicago Boston and Philadelphia. President Oberholtzer will direct the sixty fifth annual meeting and was elected unanimously to succeed Paul S Stetson. He has led Houston schools and the National Education Association and the Department of Superintendence for years. Executive committee members include Stetson Stoddard Graham Reed Meek and others.

Girl's Rites Held for 13-Year-Old Mary May Lowe
Funeral services were held for Mary May Lowe aged thirteen daughter of Mr and Mrs Griever Lowe living six miles south of the city. She died Tuesday May 29 after an appendicitis operation in Madison where she was with the funeral party for her mother's uncle. Burial followed in Madison. The Lowe family had lived in this county about three years after moving from Madison.

Dr. A Wirt Lowther former minister of the Methodist Church at Columbus and platform manager for two chautauquas here died in Lakeland Florida after six months treatment. He was born in Lost Creek West Virginia and had served as pastor at Lowansport and Columbus. Funeral services were held in Lakeland. He is survived by his widow two daughters and a son. Lakeland Ledger Star Telegram editorials praise his scholarly attainments and role in the chautauqua movement.

Seven year old Mary Ebarquarry was found emaciated and imprisoned by her mother in a chicken pen at their Santa Ana Capistrano area home. Orange County investigator Robert Sandon said the mother kept the child for days believing she had an evil eye.
