Former Seymour Man Dies in Indianapolis at 63
Ellsworth Caffyn, 63, a former Seymour resident, died at his Indianapolis home after a three month illness. He was secretary treasurer and general manager of Olds Soap and Chemical Co since 1898. He taught the Men’s Brotherhood Bible class, served on the deacon board, and supported Baptist City Mission. Survived by widow Carrie and mother Sara Caffyn and four daughters. Funeral Friday at 2 PM at Tuxedo Baptist Church. Burial Crown Hill Cemetery.

Orleans Man Killed by Arresting Officer in Town Incident
Jess Moore a 23 year old Orleans man was killed by Will Guthrie a 45 year old merchant policeman at the Orleans telephone exchange. Guthrie had arrested Cecil Phipps for an unpaid fine and Moore pursued the pair into town. Moore was warned as he advanced and Guthrie shot him in the neck. Moore had prior trouble and leaves a widowed mother and two brothers. Guthrie surrendered in Paoli after the shooting.
