Postal Rates Rise Nationwide After Court Stay
Beginning at 12 01 a m today the nation sees new postal rates 13 cents to mail a letter first class 13 cents for the first ounce 11 cents for each additional ounce postcards 9 cents up from seven cents and grams 22 cents up from 18 cents. Other increases 22 1 percent for second class 23 9 percent for third class bulk and 10 1 percent for parcel post. The stay was granted by the U S Court of Appeals allowing the rise while the merits are reviewed and to prevent payroll shortfalls.
