Youth Found Guilty In Slaying Of Woman
Walter E. Banks, 19, an Indianapolis youth, was found guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of 75 year old Mrs. Lucile Hosmer as she and her husband surprised burglars at their Indianapolis home. Jurors deliberated seven hours before the verdict. sentencing is set for January 25. Larry Cade, 19, also indicted, faces trial January 21.

Injuries Reported In Two Area Crashes Sunday
Separate accidents near Seymour injured drivers and a passenger. A 1972 pickup driven by Terry Barkes skidded on County Road 800 North and struck a concrete abutment, injuring Barkes and two passengers. A 1974 car on I 65 south of Seymour caused a three car collision involving Donald Frazier and two other vehicles. The Forsyth County police report notes damages and hospital treatment.

Snowstorm hits state with hazardous driving conditions
Indiana faced a second snowstorm in two weeks with up to a foot of snow in central regions. Roads were snow covered and treacherous, with as many as 100 motorists stranded in Owen County. Indianapolis and Terre Haute were among hardest hit as temperatures dropped and a cold, dry spell followed through the week.
