Seymour Works Board Lets Bids For Materials
The Seymour board of public works and safety let bids on gasoline, oil, fuel oil, sand, gravel, stone and bituminous materials for city departments. Sinclair's Refining Co. won gasoline and oil contracts for 1965 with various prices. L. P. Cavett Co. bid hot asphaltic concrete and bituminous material. Spray Sand and Gravel Inc. supplied washed gravel and sand. Berry Materials Corp. and Meshberger Stone Corp. bid on stone. bids for bituminous plant mix were awarded to Meshberger's and Cavett's firms. City Attorney Montgomery abstained from some votes. police case notes and a hospital bill were also recorded.

New Acme Dial System In Operation Today
The Acme Telephone exchange switches to automatic dial operation at noon marking the end of most old magnetophone systems in Jackson County. 141 subscribers now have dial phones with toll-free calls to Seymour Freetown and Reddington. Total conversion cost exceeds $71,000 and new directories list Acme and Seymour lines.

School Vote Asked In Pershing Township Two
A petition signed by 55 voters of Pershing township seeks a vote on consolidating Pershing township with Brownstown Central Community School Corp. Jackson County Clerk Donald Manion certified the petition and returned it to Pershing township trustee Carvan Rudolph. The advisory board and trustee will set a date to be announced soon. the vote will be limited to Pershing township residents. Previously two petitions asked for consolidation, one by 423 township voters and the other by more than 60 Browns town Central transfer students.

City and County Offices Close For Holiday
All city and county offices will be closed on Friday for the holiday. County offices will also close Saturday. Some city offices will be open Saturday including building commissioner and clerk-treasurer. The Tribune will not publish Friday due to New Year’s Day and resumes Saturday. Jackson County records show 8 045 primary votes from 19 precincts in May 45 percent of registered voters while 14 563 of 19 148 registrants cast ballots in the November general election 76 percent turnout. Auditor Louis H Lehroer notes costs per vote 85 98 cents in May and 43 6 cents in November, with higher overall turnout in 1964 than 1962 and 1960. Best turnout historically traced to paper ballots in 1960 and 1962 machines.

Autopsy to Finish on Indiana Canning Executive
The Louisville autopsy report lists barbiturates in the body of Ivan Edward Morgan 25 Indiana canning executive found dying Dec 23 in his Louisville apartment. Morgan, a IU graduate, was married two months to Mrs Morgan once LA Arbutus Queen in 1960. Deputy coroner William Anderson filed the report and promised a final, more complete determination in a few days.
