Protectors Of Peace report shows 200 arrests and 469 calls during the year. Fire chief notes 59 alarms, $5,836.70 fire damage, $110,080 insurance, and $150,000 building value. police chief provides monthly arrest and call totals with various offenses.
The National Week of Prayer will be observed in Seymour churches January 1 through January 10. Meetings at 7 30 p m each evening except Saturday feature different ministers from St Paul Congregational First Baptist Trinity Methodist Central Christian First Methodist Nazarene and Presbyterian churches.
In observance of New Year’s Day the Tribune will publish Wednesday morning instead of afternoon so employees may enjoy a half holiday and subscribers receive the paper early. Delivery to Seymour is expected around noon on New Year’s Day.
The Seymour post of the American Legion plans a World War memorial to be placed in Shield's park. A cannon or trench mortar may be acquired and shipped free with buyers paying charges. A festival committee was named for the April musical, with Otto Steinberger as chairman and Walter Voss and Dr. Chenoweth on the panel. The Legion also voted to buy a $5 health bond after a letter from the Jackson County Tuberculosis Association.
Buhner announces reconstruction of the Buhner Fertilizer plant after a fire. Foundations are set, steel work to ship from Bedford and arrive in Seymour late this week, crane to boost production. plant aimed to be ready for operations by mid February to meet high order demand.
Students in Seymour schools returned to classes groggy after holidays. A full day will be crowded into a half day tomorrow so noon dismissal canPermit a New Year holiday. No convocation this week and normal schedule resumes Thursday. George Cook of South Park fell ill last night but improved today.

Mrs. Eliza Smith age eighty five died at her daughter's home near Commiskey Jennings county from pneumonia. Funeral services at Tower Funeral Home North Walnut street Thursday 2 PM with Rev Walter Mosley officiating. Burial in Riverview cemetery. Survived by daughter Mrs Smith.member of Baptist Church.
Aunere services for Stephen Tringle an invalid who died on the train enroute from Chariton Ia to this county were held at the home of his sister Mrs D P Rankin at Brownstown this afternoon at 2 oclock and a burial was made in the Fairview cemetery at Brownstown Rev Roy Brumbaugh pastor of the Presbyterian church at Brownstown was in charge of the funeral service.
Steinker's Meat Market will be closed New Year's Day and open tonight until 8:00 p.m. Both Sel-Rite stores will be open until noon New Year's Day.

The Seymour Owl varsity basketball team prepared for a New Year’s Eve trip to Madison tonight in private cars. Expected starters include McCord and Goens at forwards, McFadden and Auf derheide at guards, with Walters at center. Madison boasts a strong unit after beating North Madison and North Vernon, while Seymour previously fell to North Vernon. tickets are unavailable here, but Madison gym will admit local fans.
Fourteen AdAmAn Club climbers, after spending New Year's Eve in a Barr Trail cabin seven miles from Pikes Peak Summit, plan to begin the ascent at dawn. Since 1922 the group marks the transition with rockets and fireworks, expanding by one member each year. The party started Monday, stored food and fuel at the cabin, and braces for severe high altitude storms during the ascent.
