New Year Watch Night Services Across City Churches
Watch nights and home gatherings welcomed the old year and rang in 1925. Churches including Central Christian Nazarene First Methodist Trinity Lutheran and First Presbyterian scheduled programs with sermons music and social hours. The Trinity Methodist service began at 9 pm with sermons organ music and prayers followed by youth activities. The Central Christian service started 8 pm with hymns violin duets and a sermon on the Happy Life. Lutheran German service at 7 pm featured Rev Eggers sermon and social time. First Methodist planned 7 45 pm devotional service with radio concerts by Pittsburgh choirs and Epworth League refreshments. Reliance May Purchase Plant at Scottsburg
Rumor from Scottsburg says Reliance Manufacturing may buy the Baker Overalle Co. plant which has closed after a year of unprofitable operations. Last year the firm sold 154000 dollars of goods, but wages and materials consumed profits. A January 6 stockholders meeting will decide the company’s future, with interest from Reliance seen as a possible bidder. The town hopes the Scottsburg site will continue in operation under new ownership.
