The Jackson County board of commissioners will reorganize Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Browns Town courthouse to elect a president for 1978. A Seymour family becomes homeless after a mobile home fire at Sky Haven Trailer Court early this morning. Albert Capps says furnace trouble and a spent night apart from his wife and kids preceded the blaze. firefighters arrived within five minutes but could do little as the trailer burned to the ground.

Jackson County industries closed for holidays plan to reopen early next week. Cummins Industrial Center and Holset Corporation in Seymour will restart Monday while all Cummins operations in Columbus also reopen Monday. Phone Excise Tax Drops On Jan 1 Reducing Bills in 1978
The Indiana Telephone Corporation reports a tax cut from five to four percent starting January 1 1978, with a gradual annual decline planned until full elimination in 1982. Total savings are about 360 million, split between Independent phone companies and Bell System customers, benefiting roughly 29 million telephones nationwide.
