No Mail Delivery On New Year’s Day
The Seymour Post Office will operate on a full holiday schedule on Wednesday January 1. No mail will be delivered in city or rural areas and parcel post delivery is halted. A skeleton staff will dispatch mail and one collection from city boxes occurs at 3 pm. Lobby stays open for deposits and stamps. Regular service resumes Thursday at 8 am.

Droege Feted At Testimonial Banquet For Postmaster Retirement

Merchant Group Votes Change In Store Hours
A large group of Sey mour merchants and representatives met this morning and agreed on new store hours. Stores in the group will stay open until 9 p m on Fridays and close at 5 30 p m on Saturdays effective Friday January 3. An official announcement and list of participating stores will appear in Tuesday's Tribune. The spokesman called it the first time many local merchants collaborated on a major policy change.

Family Quarrel Ends In Shooting
Neighbor reported a deadly domestic incident as Mrs. Florence Futrell 48 was found dead and her husband fatally wounded after a quarrel over her car. Futrell returned home at noon after an all night absence. a pistol was drawn and two shots rang out. Granddaughter Machelle Idjeman recalled the plan to take her to a movie.

Trooper Blocks Suspects On U S 31 Florida Trip Halted
Two Indianapolis men Donald Mann 23 and Robert DeLong 20 were halted near the U S 31 Elizabethtown junction after a road block set by Trooper Robert Stanley. They allegedly tried a Florida trip using stolen gasoline and possibly a stolen 1949 sedan. They are jailed in Bartholomew County on charges of maliciously defrauding a service station of about 3.50.

Two men pleaded guilty to public intoxication in Mayor Isaacs court.
