Brother of Local Men Is Killed in Traffic Crash
Carl R. Horton 31 of Greenfield died in a head-on crash on a divided stretch of U S Road 40 near Greenfield Wednesday night. Larry Payne 18 of Charlottesville also perished and Sarah Bartle 19 of Knights Town was critically injured. Funeral plans and survivors listed.

Cyclist Keith Released After Wreck Injuries
Virgil Keith a 35 year old Seymour resident injured in a bicycle accident Sunday was released from Schneck Memorial Hospital. The crash on South Walnut street involved William E Penn who pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle under the influence and is held on a 500 dollar bond with sentencing set for January 3.

Two Men Caught At Columbus Held For Robbery Effort Here
Two Franklin men were in Columbus police custody charged with an attempted robbery here plus two burglaries. William Hendrickson and Samuel Watkins were captured after an employee spotted Watkins trying to enter Sutter’s garage. Police say they entered Prime Motor Sales and the Western Union office, with about $40 reportedly taken from Western Union.

Two Cars Damaged In Crash Here Wednesday
A two car crash at the intersection of North Walnut Street and St. Louis Avenue at 2:50 PM Wednesday caused no injuries. Paul E. Lunte 32 Seymour R. and Mike E. Hauersperger 67 237 South Park Street were involved. Lunte traveling north on South Walnut stopped for a railroad crossing then proceeded across the track crashing into Hauersperger who was waiting in the wrong lane to turn. Estimated damages were 100 for Lunte and 50 for Hauersperger.

Born April 25 1878 in Daviess County she married William R Trowbridge February 22 1963. Survived by husband two sons four daughters a brother and a sister and several grandchildren. Mr and Mrs Melvin Silence and their three children lost their rural Brownstown home one mile southeast of Brownstown in a Tuesday fire that gutted the five room house. Loss set at 7500 with 3700 coverage on the building and 2000 on contents. The family now stays with Melvin’s father Charles Silence while considering a new home. The fire was spotted by Mrs Silence as the family prepared to eat lunch. attic flames were already visible.
