The Seymour postoffice, led by postmaster Walter H. Droege, reports its biggest year ever with 1950 receipts surpassing $150,000 and a record Christmas season in revenue and cancellations. Beginning January 1 the stamp window will close at 5 30 p m on weekdays and the office will be closed Wednesdays. December hours extended to 6 p m to handle holiday mail.

Graveside rites for Edinburg fire victims held
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in Edinburg for three children who perished in a flash fire that destroyed their one room home on the town's outskirts. The victims, Dale four Gerald two and Phyllis Jean eight months, were nephews and niece of Miss Marie Robinson of near Rockford. Relatives of the mother, Mrs. Sadie Miller, live in Seymour and the Rockford area. Neighbors fought to enter but flames blocked doors and windows.

Wounded Freetown GI Home on Furlough
Corporal Gerald K. Ault wounded in Korea has been flown back to the United States and is on a two week holiday furlough at his home in Freetown. He will return to Percy Jones General Hospital in Battle Creek Michigan next Saturday. He was hit in the left arm by a .50 caliber slug after serving with the Second Division for a week.

Automobiles Damaged In Crane Hill Crash
A collision on U S Route 50 near Crane Hill Friday night caused about 350 in damage. William H Kaufman 704 East Fifth Street drove a 1950 model coupe east on Route 50 when Kelso Fleetwood 1937 model coach crossed Shieldstown road and rear fender struck. Fleetwood was cited to appear in Bruce Hanners court for failure to yield right of way.

Man Injured as Train Demolishes Lime Truck at Vogel’s Crossing
A northbound Pennsylvania passenger train struck an empty lime truck driven by George Rotert at Vogel’s crossing south of Seymour. Rotert was extricated and taken by ambulance to Schneck Memorial Hospital with injuries not yet determined. The truck, owned by Robert Noe, was totaled and pushed northeast of the crossing. Seymour state police, including Cpl. Jack Curry and Troopers Conway and McCarter, investigated the scene with Technician Harold E. Chambers and Detective Sgt. Robert L. Bennett onsite.
