Auto theft two soldiers held in Seymour city jail
Two soldiers from Fort Benjamin Harrison were jailed in Seymour after police charged them with stealing a car in Lawrence Indiana and recovering a second stolen vehicle in Seymour. The 1935 Ford belonging to Cleo Hook was recovered undamaged.

Two Men Arraigned In Circuit Court On Assault Charges
Abell of this city and Vernon Deckard of Brown county were arraigned before Judge Branaman on assault and battery with intent, pleas of not guilty entered, bonds set at 5000 each. Abell allegedly stabbed Laura Faye Warner ten times. Deckard linked to a shooting of his brother on December 5. Charles Haag, convicted of assault with intent to commit a felony, was sentenced to one to ten years for first degree rape. Additional cases include divorce petitions and a modification hearing set for January 4.

Charles Anderson 82, Jackson County resident, dies after illness
Charles Anderson age eighty two, long time Jackson county resident, died at the home of his son Samuel one-half mile north of Acme at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon after a two week illness with pneumonia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 Thursday afternoon from the Acme Church with Rev. Russell Youngblood in charge. Burial in Acme Cemetery. He was born May 10, 1854 in Decatur county, married to Dorcas Weddel, who preceded him in death. Survived by three sons William of Spraytown Samuel of Acme Clarence of Seymour a daughter Mrs Willard Bowman of Seymour one brother George of Kansas City and two sisters Mrs Quint Hawk of Elida New Mexico and Mrs Marion Patterson of Wilford.

Blind musician killed by train in New York subway
Oscar England, 34, a blind musician, was struck by an express train in Union Square after miscounting his steps. He performed with James M. Sumner and another blind musician who had risen from street minstrelsy to a WPA radio program in New York. Sumner recalled drawing back as his companion stepped forward.

Five Hurt In Two Accidents In Seymour And Scottsburg
Two separate crashes injured five people early this morning. Harriet Lucas, 26, of Seymour, was struck on Sixth and Ewing by a car driven by George Reichenba and admitted with serious injuries. Lert Gladden, of Scottsboro, and three companions were hurt when his car collided with a Central Trackway truck on U.S. Route 31 near Coffee Pot Inn, Scottsburg. Officers C. J. Mrs. Julianna Probst Schulte, aged eighty, longtime Seymour resident, died at home 317 West Brace street at 9:55 Tuesday night after seven weeks of illness. Born December 23, 1856 in Versailles Indiana, she married Herman G. Schulte in 1888. he died in 1954. Survived by daughter Elizabeth and brother George Probst. two children preceded her. Funeral 1:30 pm Friday at home and 2:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. J. H. Eggers. burial in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon.
