The First Baptist Church plans an all day Sunday program from 9 45 a m to 9 p m to celebrate paying off its debt and mark the eighth anniversary of Pastor Rev A A Cohn. Notes and mortgages will be burned in morning services, with invitations extended to congregations and former ministers.
In Bartholomew circuit court Special Judge C. B. Cooper ruled for defendant Oren Swails of Seymour on his cross-complaint against Salon Masonic lodge in the estate fight over a 1800 Prince legacy. The case, long in litigation, now awaits a possible new-trial motion within 30 days.

A lighted Christmas tree on the porch at 413 N Broadway owned by Mr and Mrs T R Carter was stripped of its lights and electric cord. The thief disconnected the cord from the socket but left the reflectors in the yard.
The Purple Warriors of Clearspring will host a Saturday blind tournament bringing Houston Tampico and Medora to Cleaspring gym for a 2 pm start. Drawings occur at 1 pm with a consolation game at 7 pm and the title match at 8 pm.

Hubert Richardson of Memphis, son of George Richardson, was hurt Saturday afternoon while coon hunting. He fell fifteen feet from a tree, striking a stump and fracturing his backbone. He was taken home to Memphis and then moved to a Jeffersonville hospital in serious condition.
The First Church of Christ Scientist announces a free lecture on Christian Science by Judge Frederick Hill in the church on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and emphasizes faith healing concepts.
Portland Indiana December 30 The arrest of a woman intensified probe into an alleged conspiracy in which Sheriff Barton of Blackford County is charged with complicity in robberies of three eastern Indiana banks. Mrs Hazel Green 45 surrendered to Delaware county authorities and was brought to Jay county jail where Sheriff Barton also is held. They will be questioned by State Bureau of Criminal Investigation officials. Both deny involvement with Barton calling the charges a frame up. Officers said Mrs Green is and then text ends.
President Ortiz Rubio approved a clergy restriction law forcing Catholic priests in Mexico City to register with municipal authorities within three days. It allows 25 priests to operate under state jurisdiction, a point protested by Archbishop Pascual Diaz who warns of ecclesiastical jurisdiction evasion. Registration by state authorities remains contentious.
