Brother of Browns town Woman Dies on Rail Journey
Stephen Tringle 62 an invalid traveling alone from Chariton Iowa to Brownstown Indiana died on a Pennsylvania railroad train near Logansport. His body was sent to Brownstown for burial. He was brother of Mrs. D F Rankin of Brownstown and had hoped to receive care from his sister. Funeral at the Rankin home tomorrow afternoon with Rev Roy Brumbaugh presiding.

Mr and Mrs George Ariens of Jeffersonville escape serious harm when their car went off the pavement on U S 31 south of Uniontown, skidded over a fence and overturned in a field. Mrs Ariens is shaken, Mr Ariens sustains minor cuts. Their son aided and the car was driven on. A second collision north of Uniontown leaves two cars badly damaged but no serious injuries.

Twenty four residents of Mullan Idaho including the mayor and city councilmen and Shoshone County sheriff were convicted of conspiring to violate federal prohibition law. A jury returned verdict after more than 21 hours of deliberation. Five others acquitted. The roundup targeted officials who licensed liquor gambling and orderly houses to fund municipal costs. Officials admitted Mullan was a wide open town and no licensing system existed to raise revenue.

Charles Wheeler 57 Died in Indianapolis Near Freetown
Charles Wheeler age 57 of near Freetown died Sunday in Indianapolis after a two week pneumonia illness. Burial will be Tuesday at Riverview cemetery with services at Voss Mortuary led by Rev. Clarence Shake. He was born August 28 1872 in Freetown to George W. and Lydia Wheeler and lived in Jackson County all his life. Surviving are his wife Leora Clark a son Leland of Seymour his father three brothers Tony John Frank and three sisters Mrs Tank Cross Mrs Laura Ruddick and Mrs Oliver Steinberger. He was a lifelong member of the Christian church at Freetown.

Sunspot cycle may boost radio in 1930 predicts better reception
The American Association for the Advancement of Science heard Harlan T. Stetson of Ohio Wesleyan University forecast that radio reception could improve as sunspots rise and fall in 14 month and 11 year cycles. He cited a recent fall decline for October and November and predicted 1930 would show weaker sunspot activity with stronger broadcast signals.
