High School Girl Dies After Operation
Mary Louise Lewis of Shields High School died at Schneck Memorial hospital from peritonitis after an appendectomy Tuesday night. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 30 PM at First Baptist Church with burial in Riverview cemetery. She was active in church and school activities and survived by her parents and six siblings.

London December 30 Rudyard Kipling famed imperialist writer turned 61 today. After a pneumonia illness last winter he has few public appearances and writings this year. He delivered two London addresses on English literature and criticized motor traffic invading his Sussex countryside. His notable work included a poem The Vine Yard opposing American prohibition. He published a single new short story collection, spent most of the year on his 600 acre Sussex farm managed by his wife Caroline Starr Balestier, a wealthy American.
