Miss Katherine Frazee city librarian spoke at the Seymour Rotary Club on the free library idea and its public taxation basis. She outlined routine library work, community service, children's books, story telling, school cooperation, and support from women’s clubs.
The Surprise division of Citizens' Mutual Telephone Company held its annual meeting. Officers were elected: Raymond Wilson president, Ezra Whitcomb vice-president, Lynn Roberts secretary and treasurer, J.W. White superintendent. An assessment of $1.50 per subscriber was approved for the coming quarter and due within ten days.
Dr Henry N Sherwood state school superintendent seeks salary increase from 5000 to 7500 dollars and extra funds for travel and office expenses as budget committee prepares its report in Indianapolis December 30 by the International News Service.
The notice lists January 1 as a gathering day for members and families hosted by Old Committee with foods including cranberries celery lettuce cauliflower sprouts spinach kale turnips carrots grapes tangerines figs nuts neufchatel roquefort and more. Brownstown suffered a water outage from Sunday night until about 11 this morning due to a failed motor driving the pumps. An extra pump was ordered from Cincinnati but not installed yet. repairs restored service and the standpipe drained early Monday afternoon raising fire concerns. Water comes from two deep wells at Ewing into a standpipe.
Plans for the local Fancy Furniture Company plant on East Second street under receivership are being developed this week. The idle plant has about 600 orders on file for bedroom furniture and employed about 100 workers, the largest workforce under current management. Efforts to resume operations may allow workers to return soon.
Robert M. Fields a private in Company D United States Infantry Fort Benjamin Harrison deserted August 7 last from the United States Army. He was arrested Monday evening at his home by Officers Hoffmeier and Russell and handed over to army authorities at Fort Harrison.
The Auxiliary to B. of R. T. holds a Wednesday 2:30 PM meeting in the hall for officer installation. All new officers are urged to attend.
About a dozen Snields high school agricultural students led by Howard C Henderson will exhibit 1924 crop potatoes at the fifth annual State potato show at Purdue University January 12-16. They compete with 200 statewide boys in potato clubs, 150 first year and 50 second year. Exhibits previously shown at the State Fair were moved to Lafayette for the State show.
The Seymour Chair Company on the north edge of the city is in its annual inventory period with about six employees at work. Management says outlook remains for normal business in the regular manufacturing season. The firm operates seasonally and this is the typical slack period, with about 20 workers at full strength expected by March.

Emma Hobaugh confessed to killing her father Henry Bassler mother and brother John along with her three year old daughter Viola in Logansport Indiana. Coroner Stanton described her as paranoid with delusions of grandeur and persecution and advised against a costly trial.
Chief Rikhoff ordered several officers moved from day to night shifts and directed patrolmen to question all suspicious persons. Eight arrests were recorded before noon as state authorities joined the search for two bandits who robbed Meridian State Bank of 354 dollars and 2000 dollars in cash.
James Robbins 23 of Lebanon confessed to police to a series of Indiana bank robberies after flashing $400. He named confederates from a Jeffersonville reform school. In another note, William Behrens 20 of Monticello admitted joining a six bandit gang in the Upland State Bank robbery in Grant County.
