Brownstown Airman Carrington Corrington Dies in Crash
Airman Rudy Patrick Corrington, 19, of Seymour Johnson AFB, formerly Brownstown, died after a two car crash near Waynesville North Carolina. His infant son was killed instantly and his wife Eliza Ann Warner was injured. Corrington’s parents are en route home. Double funeral plans for father and baby pending arrival of Corrington’s parents. Born Oct 12 1953 at Schneck Memorial Hospital Jackson County. Airman Corrington enlisted in June 1972 after graduating Brownstown Central High School and trained as an aircraft mechanic at Sheppard Col.

Jackson County to change landfill sites in 1973
Jackson County residents will haul trash to different county landfills starting January 1 1973. Central residents move to a new Ison site north of the current Joe Gray Landfill. Medora western area trash goes to Wallace Robertson contract landfill at Medora Knobs off U S 50. Eastern residents keep using the George Darlage landfill along U S 31 near Retreat under a renewed contract.

Browns Town awards bids for blacktopping and fuel
The Brownstown board of trustees met at the town hall Thursday night to award contracts. L. P. Cavett Company received the bituminous material stone gravel and rental of grader and power contract. Jeff Severn Ashland Brownstown won gasoline for town vehicles and fuel oil for the city building heating. One other bid for blacktopping was from Contractors United Inc. of Columbus.

Pedestrian Struck by Car in Seymour injures minor
Seymour man Tilford Tormoehlen, 67, was hit while crossing Broadway at Sixth Street Thursday morning. He suffered abrasions to his left shoulder and felt dazed, then released after ER treatment at Jackson County Hospital. Vehicle was a 1968 two-door driven by John E. Collette, 30, of Seymour. Sgt. Roy T. Barnett led the investigation.
