Trisler Elected Jackson County Democratic Chairman
Billy K. Trisler precinct committeeman of Vernon township won the Jackson County Democratic chairmanship in a special election at the county courthouse in Brownstown. He succeeds Lester E. Greathouse who resigned after eight years. A meeting of the central committee and county office holders was set for January 13 at Brock's Restaurant Brownstown. The group planned to mail a card to Mrs. Millie Weddle who is hospitalized and voted to gift Greathouse in appreciation for his service. All precinct and vice committeemen and county party members will be up for election in May next year.

End of May Weather Quieted by Snow in Indiana
Weather Bureau reports one to two inches of fresh snow may fall Tuesday and Wednesday across Jackson County and parts of Indiana. Temperatures to stay two to four degrees below normal with mixed precipitation possible tonight and possible snow in the north. White River level at Rockford 2.6 feet and five inches of snow on the ground countywide this morning.

Firemen Respond to Four Calls Including False Alarm
Seymour fire department ran four calls over the weekend. An overheated fuel oil stove at 822 Pershing Street caused no damage. Dorothy Klakamp, 53, was taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital after 610 South Walnut Street call. Steam at F Jacobson and Sons plant produced no fire. A fireplace at 722 North Chestnut Street overheated, causing wall damage and smoke in two rooms.

Two Accidents Reported Sunday in Seymour Area
Trooper Charles E. Conrad investigated two Sunday traffic crashes with no injuries. At Curry Road seven miles west of Browns Town a head on crash between a 1967 pickup driven by Howard Curry and a 1967 four door sedan driven by Leroy Schultheis caused $600 damage to each vehicle. Curry was cited for left of center. At County Road 1200 East near Crothersville a 1963 auto driven by Mary McKillip veered on ice, hit a tree and log causing $200 damage.
