Harrison Smith To Stand Trial On March
Harrison Smith, 35, faces a March 1 trial in Bartholomew Circuit Court on first degree murder for the Oct 21, 1963 slaying of his ex wife Donna, 30, in a Columbus restaurant where she worked as a waitress. She died en route to Bartholomew County Hospital. Smith fled to Brown County then was captured in California this fall.

The seven member Seymour Community School Corporation board is completed with appointments from Redding Washington Hamilton and Jackson townships. Lester Swengel and Harry Schepman are reappointed for partial terms ending 1966 and 1967 respectively. Cab driver returns to Columbus ending missing report
Curtis Lawhorn a Columbus taxi driver with King's Taxi left at 4 am Monday to take a fare to Indianapolis. He failed to return that day and a missing person report was issued. He reappeared later Monday and authorities canceled the warning.

Armed Brinks Heist at Suburban Church Rectory
Chicago police seek three men after binding two priests and a guard at a Roman Catholic church rectory in Norridge. The robbers, wearing Halloween masks and ski hoods, escaped with a large haul from a Brink's armored truck. The guard was hospitalized with head injuries. priests were unharmed.

Indiana Telephone Corp and 106 other local carriers plan new intrastate night and weekend rates. Night calls from 8 p.m. to 4 30 a.m. drop to 35 cents for three minutes, plus 12 cents per extra minute, with Sunday all day rates similar. Evening 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. cuts apply all day Saturday. Effective Feb 1, the changes reduce initial night allowance from six to three minutes.

Six Testify In Columbus Mans Death
Six persons testified before a Columbus grand jury investigating the death of John Williams, 29, whose body was found December 17 in a ditch southwest of Columbus. Testimony included Mrs. Beverly Sizemore, two suspects John Adler and Robert Bragg, Sheriff Charles Nolting, pathologist Dr. David Adler, another pathologist, and Ronald Pratt, a motel bartender.

Seymour Man Faces Charge in Assault Case
A Seymour man, Billy Lee Fleetwood, 41, is jailed in Jackson County on a charge of assault and battery with intent to commit robbery. He is held on $2,000 bond with arraignment set for January 4 in Jackson Circuit Court. Fleetwood, on parole, was previously serving a 10-year auto banditry sentence in Michigan City and is accused of trying to rob 87 year old Nicholas Hauersperger after driving him from a Seymour tavern. Hauersperger was assaulted in an alley before neighbors alerted police.

Man Fined and Not Guilty Plea Entered in Court
In Jackson Circuit Court Judge John M. Lewis heard two cases this morning. Jay K. Milroy 45 of Seymour changed his plea to guilty on operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and was fined 50 dollars with license suspension advised for 60 days. Robert Thomas Richardson 39 of Seymour pleaded not guilty to two charges including second offense DUI and driving with a suspended license. bond set at 1000 dollars and he was ordered to obtain counsel by January.
