New 1963 License Plates Go On Sale Wednesday
Jackson County motorists are reminded that the new blue and gold 1963 plates go on sale at Seymour Brownstown and Crothersville license bureaus Wednesday morning January 2. Reserved numbers may be picked up after 1 p m on New Year’s Day. A $1 fee applies for reservations. Plates feature new codes 36C 36A and 36B for Seymour Brownstown and Crothersville with state name Indiana and year 1963. The Seymour bureau opens at 8 30 a m and is closed Wednesdays except New Year’s Day.

Two Hurt Slightly In Collision Here Friday Night
Two people suffered minor injuries and two cars sustained about $850 in damage after a two vehicle crash at the Chestnut and Bruce streets intersection at 7 25 p m Friday. Officer Larry Langley reported the 1957 coach owned by Josephine M. Lewis struck by a 1952 coach driven by Michael Gene Siefker. Passenger Minnie R. Sayers suffered scrapes and head lacerations. Siefker had a head bump but declined treatment. Damages: Lewis car 450, Siefker car 400.

President Elvis Stahr’s chauffeur cited after highway halt
State Trooper Neal Schiller stopped a 1962 Buick on Interstate 65 when John Wesley Davis of Bloomington, chauffeur for Indiana University President Elvis Stahr Jr., said he was taking him back to camps after a trip to New Albany. Davis was cited to appear in Scottsburg court and praised the trooper. Schiller, a probationary recruit, is Jeffersonville native serving in Scott County.

Six NYC Freight Cars Derail North of North Vernon
Six cars of a 54 car New York Central freight train derailed about four miles north of North Vernon ripping over 200 feet of track and blocking tracks for seven hours. Three derailed cars were tri level auto carriers with no injuries and no auto damage. Cause was not determined by railroad officials.

Young Woman and Infant Receive Hospital Treatment
A young woman and an infant boy were treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital after separate mishaps. Mrs Elby Fin aged 30 from 105 West Brown Street is in fair condition after a fall down stairs. Three month old Terry Schepman of 920 East Tipton Street was treated for a head injury and released after a mother slipping caused the accident.

Skindivers to Hunt for Gun Used in Franklin County Murder
