A theft at Elis Jewelry led Seymour police to arrest an 18 year old youth after a 15 minute search. The suspect admitted stealing a lighter valued at 6.95 and yielded the item, then was jailed awaiting juvenile court review.
A cold wave is forecast for the weekend with a low around 20 degrees on Friday night and a high of 42. Snow is likely Sunday and Monday with lingering cold and possible slick highways from freezing drizzle. Light rain Friday gave way to snow in the afternoon across northern Indiana.

Seymour city police pursue an investigation to identify a vandal who smashed a plate glass window worth 100 dollars at West Side Market on West Brown Street. The break was found by Ralph Bodkins this morning after arriving at 6 56 a m. A beer can near the scene is being checked for fingerprints.

A Detroit man confessed to killing Delmar Shea near Plymouth, while shootings and beatings struck Montgomery Alabama Camden South Carolina and Tallahassee Florida as courts and civic groups press for desegregation.
