Vandals strike Ridgeview administration building damage heavy

Year-End Patrols Underway In Indiana To Cut Fatalities
State police including Seymour Post No 7 launch special patrols to reduce December accidents. Frank Jessup urges defensive driving and warns against drunken driving on New Year’s Eve. In December the Seymour area reports no fatal crashes across seven counties while 1952 saw nine. Through 1954 to date 40 killed in 33 fatal accidents. 1953 tally stood at 67. If December ends without deaths, 1954 will drop by 27 from 1953. Traffic deaths in Indiana total 1 032 through last Sunday, down 17 percent from last year.

Draft Calls Four for January 19 in Jackson County
Mrs. Vivian Smith, clerk of the Selective Service Board at Brownstown, reports a call for four Jackson County men to be inducted on January 19, up from two inductees filled December 15. Also sent for physical examinations on December 15 were three other Jackson County men. No January examinee call has been issued yet, and the Brownstown office will close Friday at noon and reopen Monday at 8 AM.

Services Set Thursday For Mrs Sallie Brewer
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at Driftwood Christian Church for Mrs. Sallie Brewer 76 of Wallonia RI. Burial is in Vallopia Cemetery. Surviving are her husband Samuel J Brewer five daughters three sons two brothers and 17 grandchildren. She died Tuesday morning after two years of declining health. Born April 5 1878 in Driftwood township she spent her life in Jackson County. She was a member of Driftwood Christian Church and its Ladies Aid.

He was a retired Keystone Steel and Wire salesman and active in the Lutheran Church. Funeral followed by burial in Little Rock.
