Several Injured In Accidents As Holiday Week Ends
Several persons were injured in minor accidents over the Christmas weekend as heavy highway traffic filled Seymour area roads. Brothers Robert and Charles Webb of Windfall Ind. were treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital after a Crothersville crash. Virgil Manuel of Seymour was also hospitalized briefly. A fourth injury involved Judy Sweet of Seymour R1 whose car left the road and struck a utility pole on Tenth Street. Police reports pending.

The Jackson County Home, home to 14 elderly residents, enjoyed a festive season thanks to county groups. Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Willing Workers held a service and distributed fruit and candy. The Home Economics Chorus sang carols and handed out fruit. Brownstown Study Club staged a Christmas program with Browns town school third graders, gifting fruit and candy. Reverend Herrmann led a Sunday service as Ladies Aid gave fruits and candy.

Cohn Celebrates 28th Anniversary at First Baptist
Dr. A A Cohn marked 28 years as pastor of First Baptist Church with a dinner honoring him and his wife. Members surpassed the $52 000 52 goal for the building fund as plans for a new sanctuary and remodeled school building were announced. Architects Wallace and Simmons from Nashville will discuss minor plan changes January 15. building costs are pegged at 250 000 and the sanctuary will seat 800 with classrooms for 1 500. The church dates to 1839.

Trustees Honorary Pallbearers at Tatlock Rites
The 12 trustees of Jackson county townships served as honorary pallbearers at the funeral for James H. Tatlock of Brownstown. He died Friday morning after 63 years in Jackson county school work, first as a teacher then as superintendent. Last rites were held Sunday at the Brownstown Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Fields and Rev. Davis officiating. burial followed in Fairview Cemetery. Tatlock served as superintendent for nearly 28 years.

Sweeping Changes Asked In Highway Department
Indiana Senate Highway Investigating Committee urged a three division reorganization of the state highway department with a chief engineer auditor and materials division to report to a central commission. The panel stopped short of naming a form for a state highway commission while noting the Little Hoover report. Early Saturday afternoon two cars collided on East Tipton near Broadway as they prepared to turn. Heltonville Phones Cut Off by Pipe Theft
Thieves cut a pipe beneath railroad tracks northwest of Bedford used for telephone lines linking Bedford and Heltonville, disabling the town’s phone service for several hours before linemen traced the fault. Sheriff Zelbert Hawkins of Lawrence County identified the pipe theft as the cause.
