REMC Plans Expansion After Articles Amended
The Jackson County REMC and six neighboring counties will gain 554 miles of new electric lines after amendments to the cooperative's articles. About 140 members approved changes to qualify for an 870000 loan and spring construction is planned. The project will serve 2300 members, with 500 new homes gaining service. A two way radio link between headquarters and mobile repair units will aid storm repairs, with 60 watt station broadcasting up to fifty miles and 30 watt units in mobiles.
