Heavy snow left three and eight tenths inches on the ground as drivers were urged to go slow. State highway officials said roads were fair and generally safe though icy patches and packed ice created hazards. Widespread minor wrecks caused property damage but few injuries were reported.

TT Gasoline Coupons Invalid January First 1944
The Office of Price Administration announced that all TT gasoline ration coupons will be invalid after 12:01 AM on January 1, 1944. Serially numbered T coupons will replace TT stamps for commercial vehicles, and bulk gallon coupons for dealers and furloughed service men will expire at midnight December 31. The TT coupons were linked to diversion into illicit channels.

Prayer Service to Observe New Year Holiday Saturday

The Jackson County Tuberculosis Association urges seal sale contributions toward a $2,900 goal as another free tuberculosis clinic is planned next Wednesday. Dr C J McIntyre of Indianapolis will supervise from 10 to 3 at the city hall council chamber with county nurses and Mrs Glenn M Keach guiding the drive to wrap up by Christmas Day. Approximately $2,000 has been received to date as residents respond with seal payments still arriving.
