Jackson County board of commissioners made year end appointments for 1965 at a special session held Thursday in the county courthouse. Reappointed were James D. Weaver and Don Davis to Schneck Memorial Hospital board, Alan H. Nierman county attorney, Alfred L. Spurlock veterans service officer, Cletus G. Sneed road supervisor, and Claude Henderson custodian. Richard Kiewitt named county highway department clerk, succeeding Jack Mullen who resigned due to ill health. Mullen’s 39 years of service end. January 1 start dates. Mullen Plans Retirement as Jackson County Road Clerk
Jack Mullen will retire after 39 years as clerk of the Jackson County Highway Department on January 1. A 77 year old Brownstown resident, he has long served in county government roles including courthouse custodian and former county fireman. He and his wife Anna Trueblood celebrate 50 years of marriage on January 2.

Vehicle Stolen Here Is Found
An automobile reported stolen in Seymour Saturday night was recovered Sunday night in Brownstown in front of the police station. Francis Engleking Jr. reported the steal of his 1951 auto around 8 35 p m on Tipton street at Chestnut street where it was parked.

One Driver Arrested After U S 50 Crash
Albert Clampitt a 27 year old Medora resident was arrested after a two car collision on U S 50 at Hangmans Crossing near Sey mour at 5 55 p m Sunday. He was charged with driving an unsafe vehicle after swerving to avoid Evelyn Parker whose eastbound car was turning left onto West Second Street Road. Parker 44 of 714 West Fifth Street said she could not see the other car. The left head light was out and the right head light very dim on Clampitts auto. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

County Below Nation In Heart Death Rate

Meredith Wineinger, street commissioner, announced a special street department detail will collect discarded trees. Seymour Police Arrest Three During Weekend
Three Seymour men were arrested by city police Sunday and early Sunday. Robert T. Richardson, 39, was charged with third offense DUI driving while suspended and public intoxication. Jackie D. Greene, 33, faced assault and battery on a warrant signed by his wife. Billy Lee Fleetwood, 41, was charged with assault and battery.

Donald Vierling 19 Seymour faced a reckless driving charge while James A Leiber 45 Knoxville Tenn drew 15 dollars and 20 dollars costs for public intoxication with a 30 day Indiana State Farm term. Dallas Speer 24 North Vernon paid 15 dollars and 20 dollars for public intoxication. Hazel Brasher 40 Crothersville fined 1 dollar plus 21.75 costs for reckless driving. Hubert Wilson 40 Brownstown paid 15 dollars and 20 dollars costs for public intoxication. Earl E Thompson 28 Crothersville fined 1 dollar plus 21.75 costs for speeding.
