Thomas A. Plunkett chairman of the 43rd annual Christmas Basket Fund says excess toys from the Seymour Legion Post 89 drive have been sent to the Knightstown Soldiers and Sailors Home for orphaned children on birthdays or special occasions. Carl Peters and Horace D. Gray delivered the toys to the Hoosier state home. The drive totaled 878.71 dollars with over 100 baskets of toys and food distributed in Seymour.

Two Men Hurt in Wreck at Tipton and Broadway
A two vehicle collision at 11 25 a m Wednesday at Tipton Street and Broadway injured Travis B Carter 44 of 516 North Elm and Robert W Sage 45 of 608 West Brown. Crowe 83 of Bedford was cited for failure to yield. Crowe faces Seymour City Court. Carter and Sage were treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital and released.

Redding firefighters douse fire at farm chicken house
At 10 30 a m today Redding township volunteer firemen fought a fire at the Lee Balliet farm residence on U S 31 north of Reddington. Chief Charles E Spaugh estimated about 500 damage and said tools in the end of the building were badly damaged. No chickens were lost.

Darlene Kay Schafstall 16, Cortland Al, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Schafstall, was injured in a two car crash near Acme at 8 30 a m. Wednesday and admitted to Schneck Memorial Hospital for spine X rays. She rode as a passenger with her brother Richard Dean Schafstall 19 who also was hurt along with the other driver Mrs Nina Bennett 57 of Freetown Ri. The Schafstall car crashed into a service station restaurant damaging it.

Fire Kills Mother and Four Children in Evansville Home
A mother and four of her 11 children died in a two story frame home fire in Evansville Indiana. The father and five other children escaped unharmed while a 14 year old daughter was injur ed with back injuries after jumping from a second floor window.
