Harold Martish, 54, of Crothersville, said two colored men pistol whipped him on State Road 56 west of Salem and stole $396. A large police sweep and roadblocks followed, but the suspect car was not found. The incident occurred about 3:30 Tuesday afternoon near Livonia in Washington County.

Paratrooper Held On Kidnap Charge In Indiana
A 20 year old paratrooper identified as Willard A Butler was held on a 25000 bond in Columbus Indiana on a preliminary kidnap charge. State police said Butler hid in the back of a car carrying Mr and Mrs John Deal as they viewed a Christmas Eve show in Indianapolis.
