Four burglaries in Jackson County ended with suspects in custody. Doyle Hutchinson, 17, confessed to the Farm Bureau thefts after initial burglaries at Brownstown on December 1 and the December 17 safe theft. He and Kenneth Bingham, 20, allegedly moved the safe to a pickup truck and tried to break it open.

Three Boys Held For Truck Theft In Indiana
Three Hamilton county youths aged 12 15 and 16 were arrested early today by state troopers and city police in a stolen 1952 pickup. They claimed to have driven the truck from Carmel through Indianapolis and Greenwood, removing four tires and swapping soft drink bottles for gasoline along the way. The truck had not been reported stolen and the owner had not been located. The boys are held for Hamilton county authorities on vehicle taking charges.

Driver Bonds Set At 2200 In Jackson Court
Lexington Indiana man William E. Meagher, 34, was arraigned in Jackson Circuit Court on four charges after Seymour police arrested him at 3 30 Christmas morning. He pleaded not guilty to operating while intoxicated first and second offenses driving while license suspended and public intoxication. Bond set at 1000 for the first offense and 500 for the other three. Also over the weekend William D Hall 19 a Marine pled guilty to DUI and was fined 59 dollars plus costs with license suspension recommended for one year.

Fire Destroys Rural Residence on Honeytown Road
A Monday night fire destroyed a four room house on Honeytown road north of Brownstown. Owned by Dr. D J Cummings the home housed Mr and Mrs M N Sewell Jr and children Gary and Beth Ann. Firemen could not save the structure, two sheds survived. The value was about 7000 dollars with little insurance. The Sewells stay with M N Sewell Sr in Seymour R4.
