By mid afternoon eight precincts remained, Abel leading by 65 votes and Goss by 28, with gains in Jackson township’s first precinct while some ballots were ruled mutilated and not counted.

Bloomington Man Grilled After Shotgun Rampage
State police questioned a Bloomington laborer after a shotgun rampage near Embay left his brother and a neighbor dead and his wife wounded. Detectives quoted 34 year old Etheridge Grubbs claiming he was dazed and remembered little about the Christmas events. Police said he drove Shaw south on Route 67 before being found an hour later. Grubbs and a 19 year old nephew Earl Grubbs had previously driven from Bloomington to Embay. Mrs Grubbs told detectives her husband threatened to kill them and fired his shotgun once, wounding her hand. the trio fled to the Dudley residence where doors were locked and a shotgun blast struck the front.
