Clyde Peters of Vallonia won first place in the Vallonia Lions Club sponsored lighting contest. Harry Moptel took second, William Foster third, Peters designed a star at the entrance with red white and blue lights. Death of Miss Nellie Faye Taskey at 39
Miss Nellie Faye Taskey aged thirty nine died Friday afternoon at 3 25 from a six week illness with complications. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 PM at Tower Funeral Home with Rev Kenneth Murphy of St Pauls Congregational Church officiating. Burial in Riverview Cemetery. She was born October 4 1901 in Seymour to John and Alice Cozart Taskey and lived in Seymour her entire life. She worked 26 years at Seymour Woolen Mills and was active in St Pauls Church. Survived by mother, three brothers Homer of Kokomo John E and Glenn of Seymour, and eight sisters.

Indianapolis reports Gov M. Clifford Townsend denied any subversive groups within Indiana. He said there is no place in the state for organizations advocating violence or anti democratic doctrine. The governor did not name William Dudley Pelley, leader of the Silver Shirts. News notes at least one Indianapolis Silver Shirt leader, Lee Finehout, met with D C Stephenson last year to seek Stephenson’s release from prison. Finehout said Stephenson asked to see him, but he denied the request.
