Ehringer Sentenced In Fraud Case In Jackson Circuit Court
William S. Ehringer Jr a former Freetown resident now in Shelbyville pleaded guilty to fraud upon a utility. Judge Robert R Brown gave one day in jail and waived fines if he repaid 140 dollars to Jackson County Rural Electric for seven months of undetected service after wiring around a disconnected meter. The charge followed an August arrest on theft of electric current.

Multiple Traffic Crashes Report Holiday Weekend Injuries
Several accidents on Interstate 65 near Seymour injured one driver seriously and several others lightly. Woman Held After Slaying of Donald Jaggers in North Vernon
A 30 year old Columbus woman is in Jennings County jail on a $20000 bond charged with violation of the 1935 Firearms Act in connection with the Christmas Eve shooting death of 28 year old Donald Wayne Jaggers in North Vernon. Jaggers died Christmas Day at Methodist Hospital after being shot in the Ritz restaurant booth where he sat with the suspect and another unidentified person. Police found a .25 caliber pistol at the scene. ballistics tests are underway. The woman is to be arraigned Tuesday in Jennings Scott Circuit Court. Funeral services for Jaggers are set for Tuesday at Dowd Funeral Home with burial in Vernon Cemetery.

Christmas Basket Fund Tops Two Thousand In Seymour
The Seymour Christmas Basket Fund reached 2,079.11 dollars on Christmas Eve, surpassing 2000 for the first time. Over 175 baskets of food and fruit were distributed to needy Seymour families in the 53rd annual drive, sponsored by American Legion Post 89 and the Seymour Daily Tribune.
