Mrs. Vassie Gardner 59 formerly of Seymour died Wednesday morning in Cincinnati after a year of illness. Born November 13 1869 in Weston Indiana she was married December 25 1915 to George F Gardner now surviving with a daughter Kathryn Rebman of Cincinnati and a grandson Terry Rebman. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Saturday at Voss Mortuary with burial at Riverview Cemetery. the funeral party arrives in Seymour Friday midnight.

Destroys Stanfield Home in Christmas Eve Fire
The Stanfield family of Seymour R2 lost their six room frame residence and most contents when a fire started near the flue behind the kitchen stove at about 7 30 Monday morning. Neighbors helped with water but the blaze overwhelmed the house in about an hour and 15 minutes. Some furniture was saved but second floor contents were destroyed and insurance will cover only a small part of the loss. The couple spent Christmas with sons Robert and Harold Stanfield and have moved into a vacant Turn house.

Charles Waskom Charged After Seymour Crash
In Seymour city court Charles W. Waskom faces two charges after a Wednesday night accident at Seventh and Cheatnut Streets. He is to be arraigned Saturday on reckless driving and leaving the scene. A 1949 sedan owned by Thelma Waskom struck a tree at 710 North Chestnut, then hit a parked 1941 couch belonging to Harold S. Hobson. Damage totaled about 125 dollars. City police investigated.

Navy Pilot Found Dead in Plane Wreckage
In wild marshes near St. Stephens DC the body of Ens Al Dean Henry Steves of St. Johns Michigan was recovered from a wrecked Navy F4U plane. He had been missing since last Thursday after two planes on a Leyte carrier flight from Norfolk to Sanford. A blimp-supported search directed rescuers to the crash site.

About 850 to 900 children received treats from Santa and watched a donated moving picture program.
