A family Christmas gathering at Dr. R. A. Sutton’s Kurtz home ended when a ceiling portion fell and fire engulfed the house. The pet dog, once in the school junior play Salome, leapt to safety by escaping through a door and leaping into a stream. Neighbors assisted with clothing and essentials as the fire destroyed the home and irreplaceable papers. Dr. Sutton plans to rebuild in spring.
