The Paramount Die Casting Company Freeman Field was entered during the night of December 23. An undisclosed amount of money and merchandise was taken. John Spurgeon Jr. reported the burglary to city police around 10 a.m. December 24. A candy machine and a soft drink machine yielded about 15 dollars. candy money unknown. Three cartons of cigarettes worth 7 dollars were stolen. Indiana state police and Sgt. Don Winn are investigating.

Multiple Christmas Day killings shock Indiana families
Across Indiana on Christmas Day three women were slain and several others injured as husbands killed themselves or attempted murder in separate incidents. In Salem Leslie T. Martin, 57, shot his wife Mammie Martin, 47, then himself, dying later. Witnesses included four sons and a daughter-in-law. In Knox Abe Desho, 47, killed Ossie Desho, 38, after divorce and attempted suicide, thwarted when a neighbor intervened. In Indianapolis Rosie Mae Price, 30, was killed by a shot through a door as William H. Collins, 34, was charged with murder. In Gary Richard Doss, 65, was shot during a party while Denise Harper, 27, was taken into custody. two others were wounded mildly by pellets.

A Christmas Day brawl at Bartholomew County Jail sent three prisoners to the State Reformatory and injured two inmates. Sheriff Earl Hogan used tear gas to stop the disturbance.
