Rites Set For Man Killed In Crash
Funeral services are planned for Louis H. Terkhorn 58 of Jackson County a lifelong farmer. He died Wednesday morning in a two vehicle crash on State Road 250 east of State Road 39 when his 1949 pickup was sideswiped and overturned pinning him in the cab. Arthur Nelson of Brownstown drove the other truck and escaped with a knee bruise. The accident was investigated by county coroner Dr. L E Shaver and state police and sheriff officials. Terkhorn will be buried at Sauers Cemetery with services at the residence and Sauers Lutheran Church. He was born December 23 1894 and survived by his son and former wife Martha Petering. He was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church.

Several Treated After Accident Near Seymour
Several people were treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital after a U S Road 31 crash near Uniontown. Daniel Gregory of Indianapolis owned a car that burned while being towed west of the 31 50 junction. Mrs Gregory and three children were treated and released with scalp lacerations and leg injuries. Ralph Chatham of Scotsburg Alabama and L Z Vibert of Thompson Ky also treated and released for chest contusions and a badly injured jaw. Green Strong of Austin Alabama was admitted for possible concussion and head injuries and remained in treatment. Details of the three-vehicle wreck were not learned.

Two Cars Collide On North Chestnut Street
Two automobiles were damaged when they collided as one pulled from a curb on North Chestnut Street near Second Street. Susanne Newby 21 Seymour R3 was northbound and struck by Robert Wright 21 Cortland R1 as he pulled from a flat parking position. Losses were about 100 dollars for Newby and 90 dollars for Wright.

Funeral services for Fred Bettenbrock 87 will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Fredericks Funeral Home Cincinnati. Bettenbrock, once of Seymour, died Monday night at Deaconess Hospital Cincinnati. Jackson County commissioners held their final 1952 session in Brownstown and approved all claims as advertised. They set the 1953 county bounty on faxes at 3 dollars per head, up from 2. Roy Chasteen of Crothersville was reappointed to Schneck Memorial Hospital board for three years. Mart Bergsieker of Redding township was elected to the hospital board to replace A L Jackson, who had health reasons to resign. Leonard Crider of Pleasant Grove was named county highway superintendent for 1953, succeeding Ed Miller after years of service. Reappointments to other county boards were noted.

Death of James Tatlock Jackson County School Chief
James Henry Tatlock 79 longtime Jackson County schools superintendent was found dead at his Browns Town home. Cause reported as heart attack likely around 3 or 4 this morning after a two year decline. He served 28 years as superintendent, taught 63 years, and was born near Medora in 1873. He leaves a son Shelton, daughters Flossie and Mamie, plus grandchildren and a sister. Funeral arrangements set at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

John Hicks Sexton Of Jonesville Dies At 77
John Hicks 77 longtime sexton of Jonesville Cemetery died at his home after six weeks illness. Born June 12 1875 in Bartholomew County he lived in the area all his life. He married Margaret Ann Baker May 21 1904 and she survives with seven children ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Jonesville Christian Church with Rev William Allen leading and burial followed in Jonesville.

The final Christmas Fund report shows $593.82 in contributions and $543.84 in expenditures leaving $48.98, with the balance to be rolled into next year’s Christmas Basket account. The Christmas holiday accident toll topped 300 deaths with 251 auto fatalities since 6 p.m. Wednesday. Fires killed 23, and 31 deaths came from other accidents. Spencer Man Questioned In Shotgun Death
A 26-year-old Spencer man is questioned in the shotgun killing of his uncle Norman Bland 30 of Solsberry. The suspect is held without charge as shotgun tests are conducted. Bland's body was found at his home after a Christmas morning killing following an earlier quarrel at a filling station. Bland cannot recall details.
