Deaths from Holiday Highway Crash on U.S. 31
An Indianapolis woman died after a crash near Seymour on U S Route 31. Her uncle L. Carr is seriously injured and her husband George McGuffey escaped injury as a 1939 coupe hit a northbound truck. The victim, Ella McGuffey, died roughly 24 hours after the collision.

Three Drown As Auto Overturns On Icy Highway
A holiday trip from Chicago to Toria Kentucky ended in tragedy when three Chicago residents drowned after their car skidded on an icy curve on U S Road 31 Saturday night and plunged over a ten foot embankment into six feet of water. The vehicle was found hours later with wheels showing above the surface and the victims identified as Mishap Victims.

Christmas weekend deaths in Indiana total fifteen
Violent deaths in Indiana over the three day Christmas weekend totalled fifteen with eight more Hoosiers dying in holiday trips out of state. In state drownings fourteen were in traffic accidents and a Shelbyville woman was slain. The car driven by John T. Bannon left a roadway, skidded, and plunged into a small pond near Austin. Legion Santa Fund aids 398 children and 125 families
The American Legion Santa Fund raised 236.60 locally and, with wholesale candy, toys and food, distributed baskets and parcels to nearly 400 youngsters and about 125 families. Santa visited 124 homes with 11 trucks, aided by the Auxiliary and Shields High School, plus churches and other groups. Local merchants contributed gifts, and the final tally lists numerous donors and small amounts totaling 256.60.
