Area Mishaps Reported in Jackson County Over Weekend
State police investigated four traffic accidents in Jackson County during the weekend. Dennis Reynolds, 21, of Crothersville, drove off County Road 600 South injuring his car. David Sawyer, 20, of Crothersville R2, lost control avoiding a dog and hit a tree, with $500 damage and a cut lip. Dan Ault, 44, of Seymour, skidded on an icy Mark Twain Drive and hit a parked car. A Seymour woman was hospitalized after a single vehicle crash on Turn to Page 6.

Seymour creates new airport manager and board
The Seymour mayor appointed a new four member aviation board and named James B Harvey as airport manager filling the post after Glen Manion. Conrad Boling James Shelton and Robert Edmonds were named to the board with two Democrats and one Republican serving temporarily. Harvey will start January 1 1974 and John Trimpe becomes temporary airport manager until then.

Truck Owners To Pay Vehicle Excise Tax
Lightweight pickup and van owners will not pay personal property tax in 1974 but must pay excise tax on their vehicles. Excise tax begins January 1 with plates for 7 000 9 000 and 11 000 pound trucks. Owners must declare vehicle weight when buying plates and ensure total weight does not exceed 11 000 pounds.

Ross Medi-Van Inc will take over Scott County ambulance service at midnight Monday January 31, placing three units in Scottsburg and Austin. Bruce Ross says 11 staff will operate 24 hours, with contracts totaling 57 984 17 dollars. Rates are 25 dollars per run and 50 cents per loaded mile outside the county.

Patients at Schneck Memorial Hospital and inmates at Brownstown jail will receive holiday meals Tuesday. The hospital menu features ham with sweet potatoes green beans cranberry relish rolls and cookies.
