Jackson County lawyers honored Judge John M. Lewis of Jackson Circuit Court at a dinner at the Elks Club ahead of his December 31 retirement after twelve years on the bench. Ivan E. Morgan 25 assistant to his father at Morgan Packing Co died in a downtown Austin Indiana apartment. Autopsy planned and barbiturate poisoning suspected. Wife Judith Ann Kessler Indianapolis discovered the body as detectives noted wrist cuts. Survived by widow parents siblings and a Kentucky Military Institute student brother. Services arranged at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin.

Christmas Fund Reaches Record $1396 for Seymour Areas
Well over 100 Christmas baskets loaded with food and toys were distributed after Seymour area residents contributed a record $1396.42 to the 1964 Christmas Fund drive. LeRoy Pollett announced the final day total of $102.55, lifting the drive past the previous high of $1078.26 set in 1968.

Bids Opened On City Supplies In Seymour 1965
Sealed bids for city department supplies were opened by the Seymour board of public works and safety. Four gasoline bids from Marathon Oil Standard Oil Sinclair Oil and Sunray DX were reviewed plus bids on oils greases and asphalt. Jackson County institutions prepare holiday meals with turkey and dressing at the jail and Schneck Memorial Hospital while the county home serves chicken. Mrs. Helen Green will oversee the jail meal for four residents. Hospital meals feature turkey with all the trimmings for patients, and carolers visit nightly. The county home serves chicken and sides to 13 residents and thanks many local groups for holiday programs and gifts.
