Council Denies Move to Shift Bruce Street Crossing Flasher
Edward S. Lustig announced the Board of Works had not removed Bruce street crossing barriers for lack of a warning device. Council debated Ordinance No. 1247 to transfer flasher signals from South street, but the motion failed with Hill and Topie voting for it. Fire destroys Rockford duplex near rink. families displaced
A two-family cement block duplex at Rockford, near Rok Sey Roller Rink, burned Sunday morning in an undetermined origin blaze. Residents include Mr. and Mrs. Jack Greene and three children in one half, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Darlage and daughter moving into the other half. Losses are estimated at about two thousand dollars for the Greene side with no insurance. only a cedar chest and washing machine salvaged. Fire department did not respond as the building lies outside city limits.
