Three alleged robbers Paul Sheldon Charles Lightfoot and Harry Baldwin plotted a jail escape at the city jail Tuesday night but failed when a third bolt could not be moved. They then confessed to two robberies in Spencer and to an attempted robbery at Gilbert Filling Station. Hawkins overheard their plan to free a prisoner and seize guns and a car to flee to Owen County.

Woman Injured in Auto Crash Near Uniontown
Mrs Albert Ritter of this city sustained a compound fracture of her right arm when a car skidded on ice south of Uniontown on U S 31. Her husband and son Chester were in the vehicle. Chester was thrown from the car but uninjured. Mrs Ritter was treated at Sehnek Memorial Hospital after the fracture was reduced.
