Record Christmas Basket Fund Sets Drive High
The 54th annual Christmas Basket Fund sponsored by Seymour American Legion Post 89 and the Daily Tribune reported a record fundraising year with donations totaling 2188.03 dollars. Legion volunteers packed baskets Thursday night and delivered them Friday to Seymour area families, surpassing last year’s 2079.11 by over 100 dollars.

TB Group To Conclude Campaign
The Tuberculosis Association of Jackson County will end its 1972 fund drive on Christmas Day. Began November 15 with TB Christmas Seals and Health Bonds. The goal is $6,000, funding county TB programs including student TB testing in fourth eighth eleventh and special education classes and Sunshine School. Chest clinics serve citizens and the public education efforts cover TB smoking emphysema and air pollution. The 1972 seals were designed by Linda Layman of Boston.

Bank robbery at Mays First National Bank shocks town
Norman Voyles, cashier at the First National Bank of Mays, says two gunmen in ski masks robbed him of about $3,400 Friday and fled in a car reported stolen from Richmond. Voyles had previously been robbed for $6,000 on May 18 by a man now serving a prison term.

Christmas Gifts Stolen in Two Area Burglaries
Two southeastern Jackson County homes along the Commiskey Pike were burglarized Friday night. Christmas gifts under the trees were taken along with two antique guns and extensive damage including ripped phones. Losses total several thousand dollars as burglars entered by breaking a rear window. Trooper Richard T. Acton investigated and called the thefts a senseless blow to the victims.

Rally Set Here Key 73 To Begin Church Evangelism
Seymour and Brownstown Christmastime kickoff for Key 73 starts with a Sunday afternoon gathering in Seymour. Twelve churches participate as crowds converge at Second and Chestnut streets for songs and remarks. Hospital Jail Christmas Menus Planned in Jackson County
Two planned Christmas dinners will serve about 60 patients and 90 employees at Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour and around eight prisoners at Jackson County jail in Brownstown. Dietician Mrs. Roger Sisler and jail matron Mrs. Joseph Gray organized the menus. Hospital diners will get roast turkey with sides and desserts, while prisoners receive ham and traditional sides. Tray favors and decorations were created by local groups and students for the hospital trays.
