Basket Fund Nears Close With 1 139
The 47th annual Christmas Basket Fund rose to 1 139 33 today, short of the 1964 record by over 260. Seven donations totaling 32 were received today, LeRoy Pollett, fund treasurer, said. Contributions may be made until 9 15 a m Friday to Pollett at the Seymour National Bank or the Daily Tribune office. Members of the Seymour American Legion auxiliary will meet at the Post home tonight at 7 o'clock to prepare the baskets of food and toys for needy Thomas A. Plunkett drive chairman said. Volunteers with trucks or station wagons are needed to help distribute the baskets. The distribution will begin from the American Legion Post home at 7 o'clock Friday morning. Call Plunkett at 522 5420 to offer services or vehicles.
