Man Nabbed for Second Offense
Charles A. Tackett of Columbus was arraigned in Jackson Circuit Court at Brownstown today for a second offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He had a first offense conviction on September 18, 1948, at Franklin and a 90 day license suspension. Officials expected license return by December 18, but Tackett was arrested December 22 on Alternate U.S. 31 north of Seymour by Officer Jack Curry. He appeared before Judge George H. Gossman.

Sayre Says Secret Documents Were Stolen
Francis Sayre former Assistant Secretary of State told reporters after a HUAC session that three secret documents in the Communist spy case were taken from his office. The committee obtained papers from Whittaker Chambers bearing Sayre’s office stamp. Chambers linked them to a long run of secret government papers secured by a spy ring in 1937 and 1938. Brownstown S Lights Turned On In Holiday Display
Brownstown’s Christmas lights, a gift from the town board and the Public Service Company, were completed and lit Wednesday night. Contractor John Eglen of Seymour installed 26 new lamps, 22 in the east end and 8 in the west, each 6000 lumens on 22 foot standards. Work began November 29 after material shortages delayed construction for over a year.
