Large turnout expected as Council 10 meets to decide tonight if the new Seymour Water Co contract will be signed now or sent to a citizens and businessmen committee for study. A uniform meter rate and retroactive timing are among disputed points.
Majority of Jackson county schools closed today allowing pupils and teachers to enjoy the holidays. A few schools stay open until Tuesday afternoon for a vacation extending to the New Year. Seymour schools closed Friday and will reconvene Tuesday December 31.
Austin high school forward Carl Sipe suffered a fractured shoulder in a game against Henryville at Henryville Friday night. The injury ends his final year on the squad, keeping him idle for the rest of the season.

James P. Honan, a well known real estate man and insurance broker, died at his home Friday morning. Services were held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church at 9 o clock, with burial in River View Cemetery. He was connected with several local business ventures and known for his genial disposition and wide circle of friends.
