Blazer Industries to Open Plant in Seymour

John C. Grouch Company and Seymour Chamber of Commerce announce Blazer Industries of Chicago will move into the former Grouch Co. warehouse on the north side of the B&O line between Ewing street and Broadway. Raymond J. Surges to head the Seymour plant with 20 to 30 initial workers, plan start early next year, and use local labor through the Indiana Employment Security Division.

Yule Mailing Peak Reached at Seymour Post Office

Seymour Postmaster Ivan Love announced the Christmas mailing peak is reached with mail running ahead of last year. Russell Thomas reported 6,202 parcel posts delivered December 7 through Monday, or 1.9 percent more than last year, and 80,254 outgoing parcel posts, up 4.3 percent from 56,000. Regular staff work overtime with eight city routes aided by substitutes and rural carriers aided by auxiliaries. Letters and parcel post airmailed will reach East or West coast destinations the next day.

Christmas Fund Reaches New Record Total

Seymour residents raise an all time Christmas Basket Fund total of 1196.25 with two days left in the drive. Donations include 75 from Graessle Mercer Company and 20 from Rigsby Auto Parts. The American Legion auxiliary plans baskets at 7 PM and distributions begin Thursday morning.
